Fit matters more than frame material. A correctly sized aluminium bike beats a carbon bike that is a size out, every time. Italian geometry from Basso in particular does not always match the number on your last bike, so talk sizing with us before you order.

Wheels are the upgrade that changes how a road bike feels most, and we build wheels by hand in the shop.

Every road bike we sell can go through the Cycle to Work scheme, can have paint protection fitted before assembly, and can be delivered fully built and insured across England and Wales. Once you are riding it, the Aztecs club heads out from the shop most weekends.

Frequently asked questions

What size road bike do I need?

Frame size follows your height and inside leg, but reach matters more than either and varies between brands. Italian geometry in particular runs differently from what you may be used to, so the number on your last bike is a starting point rather than an answer. Talk it through with us before you order. Sizing advice is free and takes ten minutes.

Is carbon worth it over aluminium?

Only once the fit is right. A correctly sized aluminium bike with good wheels and tyres will be faster and more comfortable over three hours than a carbon bike that is a size out. If the choice is between a carbon frame and better wheels on an aluminium one, take the wheels.

Can I buy a road bike through Cycle to Work?

Yes, and most providers no longer cap the value, so a road bike is well within reach. Depending on your tax band you save roughly 28 to 42 percent against buying outright. We work with the main schemes and handle the paperwork for you.
