More about Framesets

Wheels are where a bike is won or lost. We build wheels by hand at 60 GBP labour per wheel with components quoted separately, and we will tell you honestly when a factory wheelset is the better buy.

A bare frame is far easier and cheaper to protect than a finished bike. If you are ordering a frameset, decide on paint protection at the same time and we will fit the film before anything is bolted on. Framesets are eligible for the Cycle to Work scheme.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy a frameset or a complete bike?

A complete bike is almost always better value if the spec suits you. A frameset makes sense when you want geometry, paint or a groupset that no complete bike offers, or when you already have wheels and finishing kit worth carrying over. Tell us what you want the bike to do and we will say honestly which route costs less.

Can you build up a frame I already own?

Yes. Bring the frame in or send us the specification you have in mind and we will quote the labour and any parts you still need. It is worth having that conversation before you buy components, because compatibility between standards is where most self sourced builds come unstuck.

Should I protect the paint on a new frameset?

If you are going to, do it now. A bare frame is far quicker to cover than a built bike, so the film goes on cleanly and the coverage is better, and it costs less than fitting it around cables and a chainset later. Cable rub and heel marks are the two things that spoil a new frame first.

Not sure which one is right for you?

Tell us how far you ride, where you park it and what you need to carry, and we will point you at the right model. We build and safety check every bike in our workshop in Bow before it leaves.
