More about Hygge Bikes

The Virum weighs 18kg and folds down to fit a hallway or a train luggage rack, the Vester adds fat tyres for rougher ground, and the Sorø pairs those fat tyres with full suspension. The Lossø is the one for a longer, more comfortable ride into town, and the automatic Virum Auto and Herlev Auto use a Gates carbon belt and a 3-speed automatic hub, so there is no chain to oil and no gears to think about. Step-through frames are available across most of the range.

Every Hygge we sell is built and safety checked in our workshop in Bow, and we service and repair them here too, including battery and motor diagnostics. Come and see the range in person, two minutes from Devons Road DLR and a short ride from Canary Wharf.

Hygge folders sit alongside the rest of our folding bikes and electric bikes. Every model is eligible for the Cycle to Work scheme, can be delivered fully built and insured, and comes back to our workshop for servicing. If it is going to live outside a flat, Laka insurance is worth a look.

Frequently asked questions

Which Hygge model is best for commuting in London?

The Virum suits most commuters: 18kg, folds small enough for a hallway or a train luggage rack, and light enough to carry up stairs. Choose the Lossø if you ride further and want a full size frame, or the Vester if your route takes in towpaths and rougher ground. The Virum Auto and Herlev Auto use an automatic hub and a carbon belt, so there are no gears to think about and no chain to oil.

Can I save money on a Hygge e-bike with the Cycle to Work scheme?

Yes. We work with all the main providers, including Cyclescheme and Green Commute Initiative, and most riders save between 25 and 42 per cent depending on their tax band. The scheme covers accessories on the same certificate, so a lock, a helmet and a pannier can go on with the bike. See our Cycle to Work page for how it works and which providers we accept.

Where can I get my Hygge e-bike serviced in London?

In our workshop in Bow (E3 3XS), one minute from Devons Road DLR and a short ride from Canary Wharf. We handle everything on a Hygge, from a standard service to battery and motor diagnostics, controller and pedal assist sensor faults, and warranty work. Book a service or repair online.

Is there a warranty on Hygge bikes bought from Aztecs Bikes?

Yes. Every Hygge comes with the manufacturer's warranty, and as an authorised dealer we handle any claim ourselves rather than sending you back to the brand. Whether you bought the bike in store or ordered it online, bring it to us in Bow and we will sort it.

Do I need a licence or insurance for a Hygge e-bike in the UK?

No. Every Hygge we sell is a 250W pedal assist e-bike limited to 15.5mph, which UK law treats as a normal bicycle. No licence, no road tax and no registration, and you can ride it wherever a bicycle is allowed. Riders must be 14 or over. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but theft cover is worth having in London.

Not sure which one is right for you?

Tell us how far you ride, where you park it and what you need to carry, and we will point you at the right model. We build and safety check every bike in our workshop in Bow before it leaves.
