More about Components

What actually makes a bike feel better. Riders tend to upgrade the groupset first and it is rarely the right call. Wheels, tyres and a correctly sized handlebar change how a bike rides far more per pound spent. We will say so even when it means selling you something cheaper.

Chains and cassettes wear as a set. Running a chain past its wear limit costs you the cassette and often the chainrings too, which is why a chain replaced on time is the best value maintenance there is. We measure chain wear free in the shop.

We fit most of what we sell, so you can order online and book the workshop at the same time. For wheels specifically, we also build by hand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know a part will fit my bike?

Ask us before you order. Bottom bracket standards, axle spacing, rotor mounts and speed counts all vary, and compatibility is where most self sourced parts come unstuck. Our mechanics deal with it every day and a two minute check saves you the return postage.

When should I replace my chain?

Before it takes the cassette with it. A worn chain chews through the cassette and eventually the chainrings, turning a cheap part into an expensive one. We measure chain wear free in the shop, so drop in and we will tell you where yours is rather than guessing by mileage.

Do you fit the parts you sell?

Most of them, yes. You can order online and book the workshop at the same time, so the part and the bike arrive together. It is usually cheaper than doing it in two visits, and anything torque sensitive is worth having done properly the first time.

Not sure which one is right for you?

Tell us how far you ride, where you park it and what you need to carry, and we will point you at the right model. We build and safety check every bike in our workshop in Bow before it leaves.
