More about Apparel & Protection

Helmets: fit beats price. A helmet that sits level, touches the head all the way round and does not move when you shake your head will protect you better than a dearer one that perches. We fit them in store and set the cradle for you. Replace a helmet after any impact, even one that left no mark.

Keada Sports covers most of the range: storm jackets, gilets, bib shorts and jerseys that hold up through a London winter without costing what the big names charge. We will tell you honestly if you are between sizes rather than sell you the wrong one.

Layering beats one thick jacket every time, and a decent pair of gloves changes a February ride more than anything else you can buy. Pair it with lights and mudguards from accessories.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know a helmet fits properly?

It should sit level, about two fingers above your eyebrows, touch the head all the way round, and stay put when you shake your head with the straps undone. If it rocks or perches, it is the wrong shape for you regardless of the price. We fit helmets in store and set the cradle for you.

When should I replace my helmet?

After any impact, even one that left no visible mark, because the foam is designed to crush once and does not recover. Otherwise most manufacturers suggest replacing every few years as the materials and the straps age. If you are not sure, bring it in and we will look at it.

What do I need for winter riding in London?

A windproof outer layer, a decent base layer underneath, proper gloves and something to keep the spray off your feet. Layering beats one thick jacket every time, because you can shed a layer when you warm up. Gloves make more difference to a February ride than anything else you can buy.

Not sure which one is right for you?

Tell us how far you ride, where you park it and what you need to carry, and we will point you at the right model. We build and safety check every bike in our workshop in Bow before it leaves.
