A Gravel Ready Tourer with Modern 1x12 Speed Power
The Croix de Fer 40 moves further into gravel territory, built around a Reynolds 725 steel frame with thru axles front and rear for extra precision. At Aztecs Bikes, we point riders here when they want a do it all drop bar bike, equally happy loaded up for touring, commuting through the week or exploring towpaths and byways at the weekend.
Why We Chose This for Our Customers:
- Reynolds 725 Steel Frame: Built from Reynolds 725 tubing with 12mm thru axles front and rear, the frame combines a classic steel ride feel with the stiffness of modern axle standards.
- Shimano GRX 1x12 Speed Groupset: A single chainring, GRX shifters and a wide 10 to 51 tooth cassette give a huge gear range from steep climbs to fast tarmac, with one less lever to think about.
- Shimano GRX Hydraulic Disc Brakes: GRX hydraulic brakes with flat mount callipers give strong, consistent stopping power whatever the weather, and match the rest of the groupset perfectly.
- Tubeless Ready Wheels and Wide Gravel Tyres: Amplitude rims are paired with 700x45c Maxxis Rambler tyres, tubeless ready for fewer punctures and a smoother ride on rough surfaces.
